Most people think private credit is a $1.5-2T trillion market. But that’s just direct lending - roughly 3% of the real opportunity.
Add asset-based finance, securitized products, CRE debt, fund finance, and infrastructure finance and you're looking at a $40T+ total addressable market.
Firms are already expanding across these strategies. And banks are partnering with them - providing warehouse lines, back leverage, and fund financing. The opportunity is enormous.
But so is the operational complexity.
Each asset class brings different collateral, different documentation, different servicing workflows, and different LP reporting requirements. Very few systems connect them. Capital is scaling exponentially. Infrastructure is scaling linearly.
That's the gap we're trying to map.
We just launched the 2026 Private Credit Technology Survey - the first industry-wide effort to identify the technology that needs to be built as credit managers scale.
We’re asking people in tech + ops at credit platforms to take a 10 minute survey to inform the industry.
It covers:
The biggest scaling break points across ops and tech
Which workflows still run on manual workarounds
How LP/ODD pressure is driving modernization
Where AI is actually deployed vs. just discussed
What credit managers would fix first if they could
Responding firms get a comp ticket to the March 12 Private Credit Technology Summit + the final research report.
If you’re in ops, tech, data, or portfolio monitoring at a credit manager or bank, we’d love your input.
Big thanks to Joey Adachi for his work putting this together. We had input from some of the biggest firms in the industry on the survey design, and we can't wait to share the results.
thanks, Marc
